G2 and Goldbug Pro ....

I talked to Fisher today and asked them if they going to have a new G2 or Goldbug Pro coming out or are they going to upgrade them and they said No. I have heard that they were. So in case anyone heard they are , simple they are not. So now that made me go ahead and purchase the F19 . HH , GS

Good choice! The F19 is THE UPGRADED GBP. At least that's how I viewed it, so I sold my GBP and bought the F19. Had a G2 at the same time as the GBP to see which I liked the best. For me, I liked the ergoes of the GBP better than the G2 and I like how the GBP control boxed is mounted securely to the rod, and mounted lower than the G2 control box.

Tom I was thinking G2 or Gold Bug Pro for jewelry hunting and was going to get one . Until the F19 came along. With the back light , it will help a lot. Also I was told that the 5 inch coil from the F75 and GBP is compatible with using, on the F19 . That's what Fisher told me anyways . So I am sending my F75se out to get the upgrade and I will be using the little 5 inch coil on the F19 in a very trash spots. GS

I have an F75 se also. I use the 5" DD and the 11" Bi-Axial from my GBP on the F19, and the standard 5"x 9" too course. I Also can use the 3.5" x 6.5" F75 Concentric on the F19. I haven't tried the 5"DD from the F75 on the F19 but I'm sure it would work because the small F75 concentric works on the F19. I also tried the GBP Nel Hunter coil on the F75 but it showed about 1/2" less depth than the Fisher 11" F75 Bi-Axial coil in an air test. That test showed me that there must be some small differences between the F19 and F75 coils. Not enough that they won't work on each other detector, and not enough difference depth wise when using the small coils to make any difference.

Groundscanner, I don't know the details of the conversation you had with the factory, but I've reported your post to factory management for internal followup.

The only searchcoils specified for the GoldBug/G2/F19 platform, are the DD's that were originally created for the "Greek" (also known as "Fratbros") series. Anything else is a crapshoot. This subject has been discussed many times on the forums but newcomers don't necessarily know that.

Dave, your sticky at the top of this forum is a great explanation of GBP family coil swapping issues. In it you courageously granted permission to test our own "But if you have one of our other searchcoils anyway, there's nothing to stop you from plugging it in just to see what happens. It won't damage the machine." I have had mixed results myself with various machines and coils. It seems some do and some don't work, but there is NO predictability of outcome. I don't know if it is coil or machine or both that spell success or failure.

Dave I ask when I called if the F19 had its own 5" DD coil and was told the only 5"DD coil that would work on the F19 was from the F75//70 and from the Gold Bug Pro. As they even looked up the reference #s . Other then them telling me , I don't now. I like using the small coils and just want the right coil for that detector. GS

can fisher send me a light bulb to put behind my GBP screen only complaint I have no light, but it has trained my ear hunting in the dark to pick out what I am looking for so maybe its not such a bad thing
