FZ-12.....anybody using one?

Did a few searches and haven't found much info on the FZ-12. Anybody using one and how do you like it?

I have limited time on one. I bought the 10.5 and 12.5 at the same time. I did dig some coins that the 10.5 missed in a small area I have pounded with every coil I have. But, I really don't have enough time on it to give it a good opinion on it. Gotta go to some less trashy area to give it a good spin... :)

really like it. Haven't really had a chance to put it through the paces to notice the potential depth qualities it is known to have. The PP is dead on!

Hope this helps.

I really love the ground coverage the best....I just heard a little nip at the end of a sweep. Would have missed it with a smaller coil. I went back & heard a high tone from all angles. It was this 1831 bust dime in really good shape :bouncy

Bill, do you hip mount? If you do, how do you suggest securing the cord/box connector to relieve the strain?

That is one nice dime! Since you were using the fz-12 the question I want to ask is how deep was that baby.

very rough, newly plowed farm. I was using my CZ-7a & it pinpointed like 6-7" down which is pretty good for freshly disturbed (non-packed) soil. It was a repeatable high tone, but actually I saw the ID block came up as "zinc cent" at first. But, I dig all repeatable tones, & old buttons hit in that area so I dug. When out of the ground it then read higher coin. I got just a little blip at the end of a sweep. If not for the big coil & extra coverage I never would have got it...

Fisher makes a great chest harness that I love for my "big box" Fisher units like the CZ-70 & Coinstrike. That way if you use a big coil like the 10.5 spyder or the 12.5 sunray your olny swinging the rod. It would be heavy without hip or chest mounting...especially with an additional SunRay probe attached. Here's a pic of my set-up for field hunting. This is my Coinstrike on the FRL chest harness....

because I'm on the ground. But there's a belt that goes around the waist that the box clips to. Then a strap goes around the back of the neck that can be adjusted. You can pull the box right up to your chest if you wish, but I think it's easier to push PP & balance with it lower. HH, Bill :cool

Sunray makes the best inline probe around as I have used them for Minelab productions but not Fisher products. I am basically not a probe man and although a little pricey you will probably get double the sensitivity of your handheld one. They are well made, work well in disc. or all metal.
I feel those that purchase one will be quite satisfied.

YES I USE THE FZ12 and it can detect small coins like dimes at real good depths.

Its real stable on my cz70Pro and swings pretty good also. It pinpoints very accurate right in the middle of the coil.

I have been using it in a park type environment and have had some surprising results in cluttered places I did not think it would do so good as it does.

I am 100 percent satisfied with it. I also have the fz1 probe and it goes with working those deeper finds I make. I don't need the probe for the shallow stuff as the cz70 Pinpoints very accurate by itself ( for me that is) On the deep stuff sometimes I just don't get the hole real straight so the target shows in middle from the top but can be at the side of a slanted off angle hole and coins on edge easy to find with the probe.

Dan,

The FZ-12 is a coil not the probe Sun Ray makes... :stretcher

this is equipment that I really do use & enjoy. My 10.5" coil was just put on the Despot classifieds, so that should show how I feel about the big Sunray coil :devil
