I was detecting a local beach yesterday, and was about chest deep in order to avoid some of the crowd, when a little girl comes swimming over to me and starts barraging me with metal detecting questions as fast as she could get them out... I asked her if she would like to head inshore closer to her mom and where she could touch bottom to talk. "Yes, please!" was her reply as she was treading water to stay afloat. Well long story short she had saved a little over $100 so far and has a birthday coming up. According to mom, she has been set on a detector for over a year. I directed her towards a Compadre for a decent starter unit and gave her info. on some sponsors to check into. It was nice to see this little girl so interested in detecting, not to mention the only time I would have a good looking woman interested in talking to me on the beach, as mom was drop dead gorgeous!

Nice story. Since mom was drop dead gorgeous, I think I would have stretched out the conversation a little bit longer. Maybe by going through all of the major brand detector companies and then explaining every machine and all of their capabilities. After that, a hands on demonstration would have been in order.
