Fustrating morning, sick F5?

Ok, so I went to a park today that I've hit several times in the past with the F5 and have never had a problem. I've hit it in all weather conditions, be it bright warm and sunny, to like today, dull and gloomy. As I was walking to the tot lot, my detector is going absolutely crazy, I figured it was probably the rebar in the concrete so I didnt worry about it. Then I got onto the bark chips, and it hadnt settled down, in fact it got worse. I noticed my batteries only had a single bar left, so I walked back to my car to grab my backup set, popped them in, and went back to the lot. Detector still going bonkers... I turned off my bluetooth and cell, no change, played around with the settings and FINALLY got it calm down bringing the thres down to -4, gain down to 50 to be 100% stable and no chatter. Went ahead and did my lookin for my little bit of time, but really felt as if the detector was not functioning properally, so I made a video. In it, you can clearly see the battery life and the fe meter. You can also see if you look quick and closely that my gb is spot on. I really really dont want to send this back to fisher AGAIN, wonder if I can convince them to send me a replacement then I send this one back.... I checked the usual suspects, loose cable etc etc. Something I've noticed, the screw on connector is fairly tricky to screw on because theres really no room in the spot to turn the knob. I can tell they did not design the control box housing to use a screw in connector. regardless, it was as tight as I can make it

Here's the video.

F5 freaking out.

Mez, it could be some type of interference. I know you said you hit the same spot many times with no problem, but there still could have been something going on EMI-wise that hadn't been there before.

You didn't indicate if you tried the detector at another area, but if not I would give that a try before an El Paso hospital trip.

Ok, so I guess it must have been EMI... Im starting to hate emi. Went to a different park this morning and got 1.19 in clad as well as new toy car for my son that was buried 6inch down in the tot lot. Sorry for the false alarm. :)

"Im starting to hate emi"..............I laughed soooo hard when I read that..............something in the simplicity of the statement:)

i have a spot i cant hunt but half of it becouse of this i keep trying but cant

There may have been a buried power line that was causing it to freak out. I was trying to hunt a house from 1890 and there was a power line right over the front yard that made it impossible to figure out if I was getting a signal or if it was interference. Sometimes changing frequency can help settle out the chatter as well or at least make it bearable.
