Funniest Find In 2005.....

Spanky

I wish I had a picture to share because this was a real hoot.

Late summer I was detecting :detecting: some empty camp sites. I love those sandy ones because of all the fun stuff you can find . I always search in all metal mode on camp sites because of the variety.

Anyways ...I was checking out the corner of this one lot and had a typical reading and dug down about three inches and found this blue piece of material .

My heart went a pitter patter thinking...YES....a bag of coins :jump:......nope.

I pulled on the material and could not get it to budge :rage: so I began digging.....and digging...and digging ...and pulling...and digging

After about 5 minutes I experienced this very foul odour.....what could it be?

Did some one bury my old socks or the family dog in this here material?:look:

I said to myself ...where is the metal? I scanned over the same spot and still had a reading...what the hay says me.:nerd:

So I dug a bigger hole....then, I got a good grip on this here material and pulled as hard as I could and landed flat on my ....you know what.:yikes:

Talk about stink... I took a close look at what I had and it surprised me.

I had pulled out of the ground a full size approximately 6 man tent.
The fiberglass poles had metal sleeves which the detector picked up and the tent came complete with ropes & poles.

Soooo....I spread it out on some picnic tables and started searching more campgrounds down the road that were vacant.

After two hours I returned to where I left the tent and someone stole it!:help: Ha Ha ....I was gonna get it cleaned at the laundry mat.

I figure a married couple must have camped and the honey bunny said no more camping and buried the thing I know my wife threatened to do it to me once.:punch:

Anyways it was funny at the time.

Cheers!

I have to admit this was the biggest item I ever dug up and the first to get stolen !
I sure do like camp sites though. I have this one Provincial Park mapped with all the hot md zones for large coin finds. The more sand the better.I've been hitting this place for the last 8 years and pulled a lot of clad from it. I should have counted all the tent pegs I've found....bags and bags of them.Park rangers don't mind me detecting since I clean the camp sites up.

Cheers!

...Just glad the campers werent still in it and causing the stench.
