Fun in the sun

Well-known member
Warmed up today to 64. I did some research on old park. Got to Hunt it for a few hours this afternoon. And these are my findings. 7 silver day for 2013.

Incredible hunt Phil :clapping:

Here's the kicker. The heart shaped ring was tested by me and a jeweler tonight. It tested silver. But there is no 925 stamp on the band. The only markings on it were 87A. Which my hunting buddy believes is a catalog number. Now I know the 925 was made mandatory in 1904. So I guess that the ring is over 100 years old. It was completely smashed in half, and was found @ 10 inches.

:surprised: sweet! Good day! I love that SLQ!

Congrats Gatekeeper, dang fine day ya had.

That ring looks like its in good shape according to the picture it doesn't look like its smashed in half. Nice finds.

Took picture of it after jeweler reshaped it. Only took him about 10 minutes.

Wow - I guess that you did have "fun in the sun"! It was warm yesterday here in Michigan, but it rained pretty good all day.

Most of my older rings are marked "sterling" - the newer ones - from the past 40 years or so are marked "925".

Doc, did I meet you yesterday? Oh well, much better hunting here today! Ground was thawed ALL THE WAY TO 3 INCHES!!! Alas, it's short lived. Looks like we won't break 30 for the next 2 weeks. Awesome...

Very nice finds Gatekeeper. :) That SLQ looks very nice. Did you get a date off of the merc?

7 silver day. Now that is what I'm talking about. Looking forward to finding an SLQ, they are one of the prettiest UScoins.

So I was out dirt fishing yesterday morning by the Colorado river. Forgot to take my charger for the CTX and ran out of battery. Believe me when I say
Regular batteries don't last long in the CTX.

Had to use my backup AT Pro. About ten minutes into hunting I hit a 93, at about 3" I dig a 1935 walking liberty half. My first one ever.
Not a bad day for the old guy.
