Big Fang Coin Biter

I hit an old home site that is on my 1860 maps but is gone on the 1873 maps. I love these kind of sites. Usually everything is old and not much modern trash to deal with. This was the case Sunday. It took me a while to actually find some iron concentrated in one area. It ended up being right next to where I parked but further out in the field. Luck was with me as I found these three goodies in about the first five passes. Then things got slow. I did find three buttons, a wheat cent and a CW store card that is too corroded to read.
The half dime is only my third in nearly 13 years of detecting! It is in the best shape of the three (one is holed the other got driven over for 100+ years). That dig was the epitome of metal detecting. The signal was in the IH coin range. Raised the coil - seemed to be the right size. Dug a small plug, split it open to reveal a silver reeded edge. "What is that?!!", was my first thought. I knew it was good. With a little spit and melted snow I carefully removed the stuck on dirt. What a thrill! This is why we detect!
The more corroded token is also from the bank of Canada. It is an "Un Sou" or Thistle Token.
Take care and HH - BF
