Fun finds and a growing ring collection

Greetings fellow forum members, it's been a while since I last posted here but I thought I would share a couple of pictures to encourage the rest of you to keep on swinging.

My primary hunting program uses "Magic's" program, with a 5.3" coil on the V3, I have not opted to upgrade yet although I do think about it on occassion. My best finds so far came about a 2 months ago hunting with a good friend in California, I had joked with him about my plan to follow behind him and pick up all the rings he missed. (He's a DFX user, which is a great machine), I did not realize that my words would come true, as shortly after he left a spot I did move in behind him and picked several nickels, and then 2 rings from the same spot. Now the rings weren't gold, but they were still a lot of fun to find. (as i am sure most of you would agree that any ring is a fun one to find.)

The dime I picked up yesterday trying out a new location in California, it's aways a thrill to find a bit of silver. (8 inches, down, 5.3 coil beautiful tone, and ID)

Happy Hunting!

You have been having a lot of fun there. :clapping:

I like to see people having success.

Be careful tossing anything you might find....With the right soil gold can take varying shades, it's not to uncommon.

Thank for the comments, I managed to get out again last night and picked up this along with a handful of nickels, and quarters.

Just a little something on gold coloration, found a ring the other day. looked at itand it said 14k* brought it to the club, we tested itand it tested gold, for the way it was colored every one thought it was gold plated, went to a coin a jewlery place tested it and it almost blow my mind what they valued it at. So color doesnt mean any thing when in the ground for awhile

Howdy Aurium--

It looks like you are having a LOT of fun with your V and the 5.3 coil! That's what it's all about. My hunting buddy and I have a "race" to 10 silver coins. Right now, I'm leading 3-1. When one of us hits 10, congratulations are in order and then we start over. It makes that 1964 Roosevelt even MORE meaningful to dig! Continued success and...

Happy Hunting!

Congrats! Part of my duties at work is testing for gold purity levels in all kinds of objects (including jewelry). Once a gold object's purity starts diminishing, it becomes more and more open to discoloration if exposed to "nasties" in a "closed" environment especially. (Pure gold only has adherents...no tarnishing.) Tough stuff and one of the reasons we protect things with it, make it a sign of "longevity" in rings, use it for harsh environments industrially...and on and on. Amazing metal gold truly is.

This is just a completion to the topic, we managed to get out for maybe 2-3 hours of hunting last week, exploring a new place, and revisiting some older producing sites. Thanks again to all for the comments, it's just fun to find a few little freebies every now and then, and to spend time with some buddies while doing so.

So far I've managed to get two people to buy their own machines, and have about 3 others seriously pondering a purchase. While at the last park we visited I chatted with a local park walker, and she mentioned an acquaintance having lost a ring in an area we had yet to hunt, so we might revisit the area again and see what turns up.

Enjoy your Memorial Day!

Remembering those who sacrificed all.
