Fun find

Here's an interesting find ( I thought ) that I made in my backyard awhile back. My first sprinkler. It might not be valuable but it was fun to find. Believe it or not it was a challenge to find because it was backed right up against a reinforced concrete slab about 2" down. The interference from the steel in the concrete was bad but I THOUGHT I could hear something different going on with the signal at a particular spot but it was intermittent. After determining the suspect spot I pulled this out, like I said, literally pushed up against the slab at 2" down. It made me smile. It's well made and very heavy for its size, approx. 6-8 oz. It measures about 3"x3". On the back is written MADE IN USA, L.A. NO. 70 CAL., PAT. NO. 1044348 (not sure of a couple #'s), 25 FT. DIA., MED. PRESSURE. Like I said, not worth anything but I love old stuff like this....and it works like a champ ! I haven't determined the age but my guess is 1960's at the newest and possibly considerably older. If anyone knows, let me know. Gonna be warm here today. Wish I was still a kid then I'd turn it on and go run through it.

IT is a cool find but most important is the fact that you learned a little bit about your detector and the signal you were getting while you were finding it . That's what its all about practice and learning something from your hunt and about the use of your machine all this makes you a better detector person . Congrats on a good find .

Them MXT'S can sniff out that non-ferrous metal amongst trash, I'm curious what coil were you using?

Alien?...I was thinking maybe Incan monkey:rofl:..neat little find...even better if hitching up to a hose and still works!

That's pretty cool. No telling what else you'll find in your own back yard. COOL!!!! HH, Nancy

Hey Giant, I was using my 6x10 DD. I've found that I can ferret out signals with it that are real close to bad interference better than any of my other coils.

Forgot to mention on the back is also written "THOMPSON TWIN". Maybe that's where that crappy 80's band got it's name. Just a thought.

I knew one of the Thompson twin girls but they didn't look anything like THAT!
Come to think of it, it looks more like a partially submerged Hypo.
