Frustration this season!

After a summer where it hardly rained so the ground was like cement and the air temp. in the 90's and humid, it has finally cooled off but has now rained for 8 straight days so I cannot get out and hunt! I love reading about the great finds though; just gets my energy up when it stops raining on Tuesday!
Andy from NC

Hi Andy, Oh Yeah, you are so right when you said its cooled off "finally"! The heat and humid here in S.Ms. seems to go on forever, and ever! Lol, waiting on the rain now to 'finally" be over has to be really tuff for you but hopefully it will soften up your cement/dirt! Hang in there , a good digging day is coming! HH, Charlie

yeah that's it cool weather and butter worth waiting for  hope it brings the goodies out of hiding for you and don't worry think we have all felt like you do right now :ranting: hang in there !!

This is what you do.
1. Go buy a good poncho
2. Get some shoes or boots made of rubber
3. Put a plastic bag over your control housing or a sandwich zip loc style that is clear
4. Go detecting in the rain!!!
I have done this several times and I am sure alot of others on here have done the same. Let us know what you find!!!

I understand. Well maybe here in the next couple of days you will have some good easy digging!!!

Ha! I used to carry an umbrella in my left hand and when I knelt down, I laid the umbrella over my shoulder and balanced it with my head!

Hi Andy. Hope you dont get washed away with that storm over their. Hope the ground gets soft for you. You might have to go to the beach after the storm. Hope you find gold. Take care... KEN from Ind.

Ya i would not think of hunting NC in the summer , I think of the poor slaves who had to work in that hot weather God have mercy

no wonder people think we are strange :jump: umbrellas rubber boots sure they were all yellow ones also

rain will stop and the sun will shine  and that's how it seems to work. I am with you by the way not going out in the rain just not that keen.

Here in NE La. its finally cooled off but the ground is still hard, last time out I decided to just spend my time hunting in the wood chips around the swings and other play ground equipment. Hopefully it will rain soon but not for as long as your getting, and happen right before the weekend the wife has to work so I'll be able to get out and take advantage of it! :detecting:

I went several places yesterday. Ground was so hard that I gave up on all of them .

Thanks for all the encouragement. Rain is supposed to end by Monday, and I hope to get out on Wednesday. At least the ground will be soft and maybe metal has been exposed!!!

I purchased the original Stingray back in the day mainly for foul-weather hunting when we would get those lingering days/weeks of rain. I had "detecting fever" pretty bad back then and if no lightening was in the picture I was there in the woods :detecting: Ha!

Wishing the best for you guys, weather and ground conditions have been perfect here most all summer..... Problem is after mid summer I just haven't been able to get out. Freeze up hits here in a month maybe less. Had a great time while I did get out though.

Its just started raining here after a very nice late 'Indian Summer' ground is dry but can still dig ok,so in theory should be the best conditions going, stubble is starting to rot and wont be long before the ground is deep ploughed and rolled to bring up some more goodies

The heat in Florida made me hang up my detectors in June. I am just starting to get them out again.

yeah summer is pretty extreme here dirt fishing is more a winter sport for me or night time in summer .

Mega that's pretty kool tractors go over the fields and do a new layer of goodies
