Frustrating!

I was hunting in Bentonville yesterday with a friend trying to find Civil War relics. I did find some small brass items that I haven't been able to ID and a lot of iron. He was using a White's 3000 coinmaster, and found several bullets (one real and the others brass coated and lead). the latter may be reenactor bullets. My frustrations comes from the fact that I found no bullets at all and just a small piece of lead with my Vaquero. Is the frequency for the "V" (which is high) not as good as the Whites coinmaster (which is relatively low) ? I was hunting in Disc and then in all-metal. I uploaded the brass finds to see if anyone knows the era they are from.
Thx,
Andy from HIllsborough

I mostly coinshoot. But the few times I have hunted fields for relics I have not found any C.W. bullets either. Modern bullets yes. Any way good luck and If you want a partner hit me up. I am in Goldsboro and am willing to travel (try to keep it within 50 miles) Messaged you my cell #.

I would think in its all metal the VAQ should go deep on a mini, bury one in ground and do some testing , you probly just did not go over one . I wonder if the dust bowl built up the soil layer ,in some spots i have heard houses got covered with sand

I am a Vaquero owner and it is my experience that the 14mhz freq. is not to high to relic hunt in fact I would say it is perfect. The Vaquero was to my knowledge designed as a relic hunter. If people that you are hunting with are finding stuff and your not, it is either you or the detector. If it is you, start digging iffy signals. If it is the detector, first thing to check is your ground balance and all other controls, heck you may need a larger coil for added depth( shallow targets already removed). Take care and happy hunting.

I dug a mini ball at over 9 inches with my Vaquero ,in Texas I found that ground balance has to be very close for deep targets when I set my ground balance I go through the motions and when I think I am close to be set I turn the ground balance about 1/8 th turn positive seems to work for me also dug a merc dime next to a iron bolt about 7 inches yesterday ticked and hit hard one way ticked backwards

My guess is that it was just about who happened to get the coil over the bullets and who didn't. Some hunts go like that. If it seems to be happening again, ask your buddy if you can check the target before he digs it if he thinks he has a bullet. See how the Vaquero responds. It should do well on bullets (both the Cibola and Tejon that I have do well on bullets).
Cheers,
tvr
