Frozen ground

Hi. Does frozen ground affect a machines detecting abilities in any way? And........ How cold can you use a Tesoro. Can they handle below zero use ?. I run my old ACE 250 down to about -10-12 Celsius because I'm not too worried if I kill it. I DO NOT want to bugger my Tejon though.

It's frozen in Ontario Canada. The ground is so hard, it's like dirt encased in ice. How do you plan on digging the dirt? Not only will you get a clump, but it will also very difficult trying to find anuthing in it.

I have retrieved finds with hammer and chisel in the past actually. But 95% is a simple clad retrieval from the snow in school yards or taboggan hills. I pre hunt potential sites if the snow is minimal or non existant, regardless of frozen ground. I mark my hits for retrieval later when the ground is thawed.

An acquaintance of mine used to use an axe to dig chucks out of the ground to recover targets when the ground was frozen. Not a habit I took up.

Hey there stink, thump here, how's it going? Just came back from a hunt on the slide hills. With the exeption of today both my tesoros have held up quite well in the colder weather, I fell on the hill and broke part of the detector rest when I fell on it. Suprising nothing else broke.
