Frozen ground - open water

Well, the frost is probably an inch or two deep now and getting deeper every day - but, the streams are still open. My mind has been wandering and I'm thinking of maybe waterproofing my ProPointer with a rubber, attaching it to a piece of PVC pipe and probing behind some rocks in the streams to see what's down there.
Any of you HH's had similar thoughts or tried doing something like this?

Maybe it's just the at pro and propointer that I have, but my atpro will detect smaller bits if metal than my pro pointer. Test yours and see how small a bit of metal it will see.

I think what he is getting at, is he wants to put the pinpointer on a pole...I personally do NOT trust the silicon thing on the Pro Pointer to waterproof it...I am thinking about getting a vibra-probe for water hunting...You would think that with the new AT detectors, that Garrett would have thought ahead and made the Pro pointer Waterproof out of the box...Someone was asleep at the drawing board.

HH,

HEY Toga , did you c the video with the guy finding all the silver coins with the ATPRO. The video was a couple months back, but he used silicone on his Propointer and I think he said he has been using it that way for a couple years in the water. I think your good to go with the silicone rubber. In the guys video he basically smeered the silicone over the speaker and light and maybe the tip. I havn't tried it, but I think this guy said he has been using it like that for a few years:thumbup:

The video dreams are made of - AT Pro nonetheless!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'll have to do some wading. Any recommendations on wading in 32 degree water?
