From thriving to starving

Here's a town we visited in 2007 that had a huge population at one time and now only has one single farm way off in the distance. Quite impressive remains

Wow, those are nice remains to the town. Any idea what they used to make up?
 
That particular building was the high school. The only other foundation remains was from over of the hotels and it's chimney stack.
 
did you hav e your metal detector with you? :)
 
Yes, but we didn't detect it. We get too scared when it comes to these locations to whip 'em out
