This is a 1700's brass shoe buckle. The other item is thin stamped and says "Young America" with two tangs coming off the sides that are at a 90 degree angle with a hole in each.
 
The way I understand it that back then the nicer shoe buckle you had was kinda like having status, and money. Great find!!!
