These nickles, two-cent piece, and the Roosevelt are all out of the same park in Central Illinois I've hunted for years. The E-Trac and EQ-2 Pro Excelerator coil keep kicking em' up. I've came to the conclusion to these nickles are scattered all over this park but quite deep, 6-9 inches. Some targets produce no more than a light "thump" sound, due to the depth and corrosion. Found a lot of these here. Fun to find but not too valuable due to condition. Only found (2) 2 cent pieces here in all the years I've been hunting, and I hope there's more.

I've found quite a few musket balls here and it's just another example. Very few Civil War buttons. Lucky to find this one. Got a few old wheaties and an indianhead penny. Button came at 12-16 on the meter reading. By the way, this park was established in 1874.

Old pocket knives are pretty common here. Pretty bad shape. Just threw some clad money in there with it.

More old nickles, couple of indianheads, a couple of rings, and I don't know hold the button is. Silver is getting harder to find here. Usually Mercs or Roosevelt dimes. I'm starting to think after hunting this park for three years with this E-Trac, the older Barber and Seated coins are just about depleted. Hope you enjoyed the pics!

for some strange reason I really like finding the old 5 cent's. Ive got me a few of the shield type and one is worth about 80 bucks. Im wondering what your numbers came in at on yours?

Utahshovelhead,in response to the numbers on those old nickles, ive gotten initial meter numbers that are all over the place.Examples are 13-12 ,12-13 ,14 -12 , 28-13, 24-11, 24-10,23-13,23-10, 20-13, 20-11,and even 4-9,and 4-8. The deeper and more corroded, the wierder the number. As expected when you dig and get closer to the coin the numbers tend to be more normal. I gotta say if I hear a faint signal or a thump- thump sound deep down Im gonna dig it anyway. These old nickles hardly ever come out in good shape. You may get different signals entirely.Ive hunted almost entirely with the EQ2 Pro Excelerator, using no or very ,very little discrimination . Lotta pull tabs and nails here and I rely almost entirely on pitch. Got used to all the noise!! Hope this will help you out ,and happy hunting to you and all others on this forum!!

Excellent finds - congrats !
