From a battle in a small town in KY...and a whatzit....

The battle was fierce for a day. These were from a yard near the shooting. What is the brass thing at the bottom? It's very heavy duty and looks like part of the top legs are broken off.

It appear to me the piece of the bottom are the remains of a heel plate (the curved top is missing). Could be wrong but, sure looks like one to me.
