"Friendship" in Winter....

[attachment 76270 Winter003.jpg]I have posted photo's of the "Friendship" located in the "Witch City" of Salem Massachusetts, before, but summer shots. Here are a couple of Winter shots,at a floodtide,at Derrby Wharf. If this was in the 1700/1800's, there would be sailing vessels stretched on both sides, the length of the wharf. Can you imagine sailing on a vessel in Winter? Climbing the masts,or just staying warm, with a stove, wind howling, rocking back an forth, waitnig to get to port? Those sailors did'nt know any different, but must have been brave souls! trying to keep all that rigging ice free in a winter storm. That was a hard way to make a living for sure.

Tnx for the pictures.

Yes, I bet it was miserable sailing when it was winter. Most folks now days are too "soft" to live a harsh life like they lived a few hundred years ago. Thanks for posting the pictures with the snow in the back ground or rather on the side of the road...really looks cold up there! Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)
