Been spending some time with a friend who is slowing dying from a terrible disease. He is also into woodworking like I am. One day soon he will have to give up this hobby because his body just won't let him continue. He really enjoys turning bowls on a lathe and wanted to teach me some basics. So I decide to make a small bowl with a lid for my wife to put her jewelry in at night.
It was really fun and I think it turned out pretty nice. I can hardly wait to make something else with him!

WOW! Nice work! :clapping: Is that an ash bowl, box elder lid, and walnut stem? I think this friend of yours wants to pass on a little of himself to you, which is indeed an honor.:please:

Very close Mud! The body is Hickory with a small band of Cherry, lid I think is spalded maple and the stem is indeed walnut. This is a "mutt" of a bowl.
I wish my friend could still walk because I would return the kindness and take him out detecting.

looking forward to seeing the next one you make.

That sure turned out nice. Wood is so neat to work with - almost a personality. I have a friend who does wood lathe things - mostly ink pens & such. Steve in so la

Gorgeous! Is that an oil finish?

Thanks Steve. My friend loves to also make Christmas ornaments and bird houses on the lathe. And I agree wood does almost have it's own personality.

Beautiful bowl from woodworking and what a blessing to have a friend to share working with and learning from him! Sorry, about his unhealthiness but with your friendship and Christian love, you both will be blessed of God in Jesus' name for as long as you both are able to do so! Prayers for your friend to be healed and live life more abundantly while here! What a Friend we have in Jesus and our earthly friends with whom we spend time and share our faith! Amen! Ma

Thanks for the Prayers for my friend Ma! He has had it rough the last few years but he keeps on truckin'.
