Friend has Pine Ridge detector coil with 3 out of 5 wires pulled loose..

Can anyone tell me where the
clear, white and green wires go? I have a red connected yet to first terminal, then a black wire next and then the next three terminals in a row are disconnected. The last two seem to have what looks like a flat capacitor soldered to them. Any help would be appreciated.
If u know please message me.

Thanks... Guvner

I have pics of the BH push-in connector and coil wiring here:

I read a bit and maybe it doesn't matter polarity wise on the red and black wire as mine are exactly backwards to what the coil you have shows. But I think I read that they are going to the same coil.

Here's a close up of what I have. The clear wire, the green wire and the white wire are all three pulled away from the coil. In the picture the clear one might seem to be hooked up but isn't. Only the red and black wire are still soldered to the coil. Let me know what you think...

Thanks for looking...

The wires look to be merely pulled back and not twisted about, so I'd solder them back in clear, white, green and see if that fixes it. I've tried random connections before, so I don't think anything is harmed is you get it wrong. But that order sure looks like it should be correct.

My dissection was of a 4" coil, other sizes may have them in different order. You won't find it published anywhere, so be sure to save a copy of the correct method for yours in case others have a similar question.

Good luck getting it going!

Guvner, I have searched for it, and have come up empty. Can you describe the display? That will tell the tale.

On first glance it looks like one of the early Tracker models. I have a page on them here: http://www.whiteriverprep.com/vintage/bountyhunter/Tracker.html
AKA Gold Digger or Tracker 1. I believe these had a hard-wired " coil, no plug to change coils, While they "should" be compatible with other BH models (they share the same basic George Payne design), the wiring colors and order may differ from the machines that use plug-in coils.

The wires don't look like they moved very far or became rearranged in their proper order. I'd resolder them in the order they seem to lay in and try that first. With only three wires disconnected, there's not too many possible arrangements if the first try doesn't work.

It's always possible the broken coil wires are only one sign of misuse. The opposite end of the cable may have disconnected wires as well as problems with the battery wires or other things.

LOL, I was looking a bit underfed when that pic was taken! Normally, I'm pretty easy-going, but keep your small pets at bay just to be safe!
