Its Garrett Freedom Ace Plus, what can you guys tell me about this detector, i presume its fairly old, can it hit deep targets? how does it compare to the Ace 250? etc etc

Thanks

It is actually a very good metal detector. There are still guys using them today, and swear that they are one of the best coin hunters Garrett has ever made.

One of the better Garretts made with many still in use and they'll hunt right along with the current stuff out there.

I use one on occasion, one of my favorite Garretts!! They do hit the coins hard and the depth on them compares nicely to the modern Garretts. You will need a good set of headphones to hear those deep, faint targets and swing slow and low. Depending on the coil pin configuration, you might be able to fit the 6 x 9 or 7 by 10 Proformance coil to it...sweet!! If you have a "M" pattern to your coil pins, the Pro's will run on it. However, if you have the "X" pattern, you will have to use the Crossfire coils or re-plug a Pro coil. I usually run mine at the Initial setting and dig whatever beeps!!

Great machine:detecting:Of course, after all it is a Garrett:garrett:I've never owned one, but I've heard some good things about it.

Here are some useful links.

Best of luck to ya'!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

One more quick question
The coil he has seems like a pin pointer coil, he can't swing fast. Are these freedom coils made like this or is it a pin pointer coil?
