Thinking about taking the day off tomorrow to do some beeping. If anyone is around let me know. You are more then welcome to use my Etrac while I learn the CTX.

I might be out hunting tomorrow afternoon............. maybe. I'll send you a PM.

Too dry and hard where i went friday so i left after an hour of messing with the setting. Today i went to an old school that i have pounded with the etrac. Had an hour to hunt before i had to cook supper. Found a 30s wheat and what looks like a ring made of nickle. Both were deeper than i wanted to dig in the dry sand. It was like concrete past 4 inches. Waiting on the rain before i do any more i think. Just too hard to dig.

What's your feelings so far on the CTX3030?

According to the forums Nathan, the 3030 is the greatest thing to happen to metal detecting, since the invention of the coin.

To be honest Nathan I have less than 3 hours on the machine and even less time on it actually knowing what the trace functions do. Way to early to tell but I can say that the recovery speed and balance are fantastic. There are a couple bells and whistles that aren't really necessary but are very convienient to use such as marking your findpoints and mapping where you have been at a certain location to see what areas you missed for the next hunt. The few places I have taken the machine I have been over with the Etrac. I didn't leave much behind and it will take me a while to get the hang of the CTX before I really make any assesments. Yesterday was the first day I hunted in manual sensativity and really the first time I had any targets deeper than 5 inches. The ring and the wheat penny were both 9 inches in hard packed dry sand and if it gets that kind of depth in those conditions I can't wait to get out after it rains. Anytime you want to meet up and give it a try let me know. I usually have the etrac in the truck with me but i haven't done any side by side comparissions on finds yet. Still learning the machine which I have a feeling will take me a good bit. It may be a minelab but its not an Etrac and as such there is a whole new learning curve I have to get down. I was lucky with the Etrac as there were videos everywhere to learn from. There are very little videos worth a darn on youtube so its a lot slower process for me. I think I watched videos on the Etrac for 6 months before I even considered buying one. The only thing I will truely miss about the etrac is the x-1 probe. It was by far the best accessory I ever bought for the machine.

Decided to go get sweaty today. Only lasted an hour before it was just too humid and hot and I was soaked. I'm conviced this CTX can see through the junk. The dime is a 63 Rosie and it was actually under the broad head about 5 inches down. It gave me a weak high signal but showed up clearly on the screen. Also found a 1901 Indian.

Way to go! Those machines love finding Indian cents. And great find with the dime along with the piece of other metal. YES!!!! HH, Nancy

Congratulations on the finds with the CTX, I am really impressed with the CTX and I have had four targets on the screen at one time, three bad and one good.
