FRIDAY THE 13TH FINDS

Got out awhile yesterday evening to do a little exploring and run across a few relics. I dug some musket & buck balls, a fired Gardner, a carved & fired .69 cal. & a small gold ring that was in the same hole as a musketball. Does anyone recognize the stamp on the ring? ( Looks like "&" )Thanks for viewing & HH!!

n/t

after I had dug the musket ball I noticed the inside of the ring was nice, clean and very shiny but the outside looked like aged brass or copper ( brownish-maroon in color ) I figured it was just another plated ring. Once I started scrubbing it ( and it took a whole lot of elbow grease in doing so!! ) I noticed the outside of the ring was showing more and more gold. Just wonder about the maker's mark and if it is possibly from the same era as the bullets.

thanks , ihuntrelics,

Yes, I forgot that it was found with a musketball in the same hole

That is a fantastic , precious find....I love the old gold rings better than the current stock.

I had a gold ring that was the same way, inside was shiny, outside looked like copper, but after a lot of elbow grease the outside shines the same as the inside now, and it is stamped 18K, nice finds!
