An unheard of 1.5 hour hunt for me at a field that is a short walk from my house. Just wanted to knock a few coins off the total for the last hoorah, hopefully tomorrow but possibly Sunday. Turning hot with high temps near 100 for the next 5 days so hunting will be limited to early morning or even after sunset. 41 coins, a neat token from Just Fun, and a gaudy San Francisco pendant. The little center circle spins. It is pretty cool but I still don't believe anybody would wear it. 147 coins to go.
As I started today the first 30 or so coins I found were all very shallow. 1-2 inches. Ground conditions were perfect. Sensitivity set at 8. It always make me wonder if my detector is working right when this happens, or if it's operator is working right. Coin after coin at 1 inch. I moved across a road and there I found nothing above 3 inches. It just proves what UW says. If it ain't there, you can't find it. I am guessing there were few deep coins at the first site (a playground) and there were few shallow coins at the second site (third base line of a ball field) and that my GTI 2500 was functioning properly. This site is super trashy. Very hard to find nickels there. About 19 of 20 nickel hits are pop tops.
