I have been eyeballing a school for several years now. It's obviously an older school house, although I'm not sure exactly how old. There is at least one major, newer, addition to the school. I've never hunted it before, as there isn't much grass left, with the main playground area being completely paved over. However, I remember one of the rules I posted a couple weeks ago, about "Always hunt the outskirts." There are a couple easement strips left, and a couple other strips of grass between the sidewalk and the fence. Last Saturday, on a whim, I decided to do a quickie search of one of the easement strips.
Wouldn't you know it, I pulled up four Wheat's? On a return trip, with my 5" hockey puck on, I pulled up another 6 Wheat's. These coins are, for the most part, extremely shallow, ranging from 1 - 5" down. However, there are many conifers right where I'm hunting, and the turpentine coming off those trees has really corroded some of the Wheat's, to the point that they register as Zinc Cents on my CZ. I started recovered all Zinc hits, and also scored a couple pieces of small junk jewelry.
However, I've been wondering, with all these Wheat's, where are the silver dimes? I'm running a ratio of Wheat's : Silver of 6.125 : 1 at that time. I had recovered 10 Wheat's, so I'm overdue for a Silver dime out of here.
Yesterday, Friday, I went in and continued the pattern I was working. Within 10 minutes, I recovered this:

4" down! I also recovered two more Wheat's, a '40 and a '56. This brings my Wheat : Silver ratio to 6.47 : 1, and I've now recovered 12 Wheat's from this site. I should be due for another Silver on my next trip, hopefully.
Note: the picture(s) might not show up due to bandwidth limitations. If the picture(s) are not there, check back at a later time.
