I had just enough daylight from work tonight to go and do a quickie 20-minute hunt at a local school that I visited last night. This time, I hit the baseball field. I didn't have long, as the sun was almost down when I got there. I just started in a direction that cut right through the outfield. On my way back, I got a nice coin signal that indicated 5 - 6" down. I flipped up a plug, checked the plug, and the target's in the hole. I scoop out some loose dirt, and saw that I had just brushed some dirt from the rim of a silver dime that was stuck to the bottom of the hole. I flipped it out, and realized I had a Merc., but I didn't know what year, as it was rather encrusted with dirt. Since it was time to go, I started heading out, and noticed a water fountain a little ways away. After a quick rinse, I saw that I had a 1918S Merc., in fairly good shape.

I always find short trips produce. Seems like the first hour or so we are more alert or maybe it just seems that way. In any case silver is always nice..

this past year, it seems like when I do make a good find, I am "led" almost straight to the target from my vehicle. After I recover it, I go ahead and do a grid search, but, all I usually find is clad and a few Wheat's.

from WWII that must have been dropped the year they were struck. Complete, crisp, details, and would probably grade AU, ground damage, net grade VF - XF. I even have a Walking Lib Half like that, hardly any wear at all on it.
