Friday 'Fun Hunt' Finds

Took the day off work today to spend it with my dad hunting in @#%^)(. We started off hunting around the lake (where the 'V' - boots, riffle and helmet pin was found). Found a few wheaties here as well ['10 '34 '46]. I also found a self made name tag 'Camden'. Then moved to @#$%^& area. I struck out there. My old man found a quarter dipped in some rubber bright orange paint with an X on it here I think (may have been from the lake im not sure - anyone set out a target coin early?). Then we met up with one of my fathers buddies who lives near the @#%+)(. He has a rock in his front yard which states it is a landmark for the log trail. When we first got there I was introduced to him and his wife. A great couple who have lived there for 30+ years and were pretty familiar with the area. His wife said you should try detecting our yard. She said I was digging around the house the other day and an old penny popped out. She ran inside to get it. I was thinking oh maybe she found a wheatie or injun. Well she came back out and flopped an 1834 large in my hand. I was shocked and figured maybe their property was some of the older temp log cabin property near the lake. They were the nicest couple you could meet. My old man ran into town with him (to see his business) while I stuck around to swing his yard. I buzzed around the house and really did not hit much at all (pretty clean yard I was running 27 sensitivity with stock etrac coil). I spent about 30 minutes sniffing around found some clad here and there. Then decided to hit the small strip of property on the north side of his lot. Right off the bat I had a solid screaming 12-45. I dug down and noticed the ground was nothing but gravel/rock about an inch below the grass. Threw the probe in the hole and landed a small token. I moved on about a foot away and had another screaming signal and thought what the heck (could not have been but two foot away). Threw open the plug to find another 'larger' token (same place). About that time my old man and the property owner came rolling back in. I showed them the tokens I had just found. I kept swinging away while they were looking at the tokens. I had another signal then another and another. It was the wildest thing. Every signal was just about identical 11-46, 12-45. With each plug I thought I was going to pull out a silver dime. Each plug produced another token. I had the old man get out his detector and swing a bit. He ended up finding 2 more after I had found 6 large tokens and the one smaller token (I am sure we did not get them all).

I had to be heading home soon (wifey called and let me know without saying that I was due home). So we were about to wrap things up when the homeowner brought us out a beer and some chairs to relax a bit. I had a great time talking and really enjoyed his company. We later let him know we had to hit the road but he let us know we were welcome back anytime. We then went back to say our goodbye to Larry, Nancy, Steve, Pam, Starr and Daryl (not sure where Nathan ran off to).

It was great to see everyone. Not sure if we will make it back anymore this weekend (I am on call and would hate to drive an hour out only to have to turn around to come back). We had a blast and enjoyed our time out. Good luck the rest of the weekend guys. If we get crazy we may head back Sunday.

Anyone have any info on the pin that we found? I am guessing it is either veteran or victory or valor?

Nice finds!!!

Best I can figure is he was Lactose intolerance lol...
am I missing something on the forum or can I not edit a post?
Neil

I think you have to do it within a 1/2 hour or something like that. I'm not sure of the actual time frame.

There is a time period within you can make edits. After that you can send a message to the MODERATORS "me or Nancy" to edit your post.

Nice going Neil :clapping:

Love your finds! Those tokens are so cool and that pin is intriguing. Have you found out any information about it? If so, please share. Thanks for posting and HH, Nancy

Only info I have on it is what I found through whatzit forum here. Someone suggested that it may be a fallen soldier pin from Vietnam (possibly).

Neil

Oh my, what a pin! That would make sense for the design. Cool find for sure. HH, Nancy
