fresh water settings in Michigan for EXCALIBUR

Are their any different settings you use for fresh water searching? I use discrimination at 1. volume at 3/4. sensitivity at 11 [should this be on auto]. The one lake I have been going to has lots of iron. It is not giving a tone but the threshhold shuts off, and returns when I lift the coil. Just wanted to know if anyone has any good advice on freshwater searching. My fist time using the Excalibur was in a freshwater lake and I found a mercury dime. Now I would like to find some gold. I do dig everything.

Hi Roman44, I am primarily a saltwater hunter, but I do not have alot of GOOD Freshwater Spots to hunt. But, when I did detect in freshwater, I used the same settings that I use in saltwater. You have to GO OVER THE G-O-L-D to FIND IT!! Just BE PATIENT, and I am sure that you will FIND SOME GOLD, IF IT IS THERE!! HH, Les.
