fresh water beach hunt need help eith settings

Hello all,
We are planning a trip to Michigan, will be on the beach the majority of the time. Went last year with no luck, probably due to my inexperience with the etrac. Does anyone have any good setting for fresh water beaches, mainly dry sand and waters edge. Hoping more for jewelry, coins etc...
