my id numbers seem to freeze the wiggle doesn't make them move also some sweet sounding targets have high ferrous numbers I'm hunting in ferrous what might cause this also my yard is almost completely clean yet the factory program is null almost half the time and all metal plays a tone constantly Ive dug down to clay on the low tones theirs no target.

The factory program is to much discrimination for your yard. Press the iron mask button and set it to -12,-13 or -14 (for model XS and XS II) then press detect. This will help stop most of the nulling/freezeing numbers, your yard is not as clean as you think, it could have fill dirt that has old rusted iron. Also try slowing your swing, my normal swing starting from left to right is 4 to 5 second and as it nulls more I slow my swing even more. Sometimes you have to go to a smaller coil to hunt some areas, you loose depth but aleast you can hunt it...

My yard is the same way only I can't get a threshold tone unless I stop moving the coil completely. I'm guessing my yard is full of iron. Never noticed it with the DFX.

I agree about opening up your disc also reduce your sensitivity and move your recovery to fast.
