Freedom 3

I have an older Freedom 3 that I will not part with. Does anyone know if a Crossfire coil will work on this?

Don't know about that, call Garrett they'll be happy to answer it, HH

The Freedom Coin Commander series use the 5.5 khz Deepseeker coils, the Freedom CDC and Freedom Plus series use the original Crossfire coils. I've had at least one of all of the Freedom series, have a Freedom III CDC now that I use regularly, and for coin hunting I prefer the Freedom III CDC and Freedom III Plus over the newer Garrett models.

Got a Freedom III myself and just found 2 coils for it on ebay. I picked up a original 7 1/2 " 5.5khz and another 4" Super Sniper Deepseeker. I'd had the detector for years but the original coil went bad and its just been hanging up in my man cave till now. Im kinda entertaining the thought of lake hunting with it some this summer or maybe even trading it for something more suitable. They seem to have a big following and very popular still.

I love mine. Just had a lower rod made for it as the original one broke. I have 3 coils the 4", 7 1/2" & 10". For a turn on and go detector, it is fantastic. I also did a lot of competiton hunting with it. Paid for itself many times. I'm getting back into metal detecting after a many years. My kids are getting older, and I can sneak a little hunt in here and there.
