does the damp ground effect using my new hobby?
How do I sign up for the magazine?

Hi Nancy,
Can't help you with the magazine but as to your question about wet conditions, well that is what detectors excell in.
For whatever reason, the coils signal goes deeper in wet soil. Targets seem to ring up better than in the dry stuff you will be fighting this next august and september.
Keep the control part o your machine dry..wrap it in a plastic bag and get to the school playgrounds while the kids are home. Great place to learn how your machine works and it is easy to uncover a coin in the barkchips or pea gravell.
Many of your questions can be answered by using the search function on this site so start reading and planning.

Welcome to metal detecting! I find the wet ground to enhance the target signals. Plus it easier to dig. Get out and do it!

:If you're new to detecting you'll have a lot more to learn and worry about than wet ground. :) Good luck in your new venture. You know where to come if you need help.
