G'day all,
I decided to go to a local beach again this morning, started with the dry sand, got a lousy 5c.So i quickly changed detectors & hit the water could only manage around 3.5hrs because the wind picked up.I was calm one minute then i had 1-1.5m swell come out of no where,i was crashing & jumping over waves in 4ft of water.
Any way this is what i managed to dig up without getting dunked again by a wave.:stars:
When i heard the signal i was waist deep, the statue was over 1ft deep, when it come up in my scoop i thought it was gold the colour in the scoop ,my eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. But No it looks only plated unfortunately:ranting:
Total finds $5.16 & Ganesha statue & a silver dog charm

I can say this there is some weird stuff in our waters

Cheers Freddy

Freddy, good haul for 3 hours on the beach. I live in Brisbane and I live a fair way from the beach however, I try to go the the Gold Coast as much as possible.

Are you using an Ace 250? How does your Garret detector distinguish coins in Coin mode?? I am still learning to use my Ace 250.

Anyhow, its good to see another from Down Under apart of this forum.
Cheers

Freddy,
Sounds like you got some good gear as well as some good local knowledge! How did you find out about the dried up lakes? I live in Brisbane western surburbs. Where do you live?

As mentioned before, we have been having a drought. The ground is very hard and dry! Can you give me any good tips on how to dig very hard dry ground??

I recently bought an Ace 250. I am new to detecting but find the unit very good to use. Especially on the beach.

Anyway, I hope you find some great treasure at these lakes.
All the best!
David Cooper
