Fourth gold ring this year:smile:

Drove to Hot Springs today and checked the lake depths after all this rain.
The water is almost to it's highest point. Lots of debris in the water.

I then went to check out two parks that I haven't metal detected at. The first
one is an old park. I used my Vaquero and found some old pieces of steel
stuff and a few modern coins.

The next one is a baseball park and also has a playground. I decided to use
my Euro Sabre. I dug lots of trash, and some kids jewelry. Found two of
those shinny magnets. Was tired and decided to leave. As I was leaving I
kept swinging my coil. Right out side the tot lot I got a weak signal. It
discriminated like aluminum, but it had a smooth tight sound, so I decided
to dig it. It was this old silver ring at about 6" deep. It has some kind of stone
that looks cracked from being in the ground.

When I got home I look at the ring with a magnifying glass, and to my
surprise it says 14k.:wiggle: Must be white gold.:)

You are doing great Tabdog!

...surprised you set that new V down!:)

now we'll never know if it would have found gold #4????

HH

We'll know soon.........

I wanted to use the small coil.

Don't have one for the Vaquero.

But it's on it's way.

Richard at Back Woods Detectors just got me a slightly used
5.78" concentric with coil cover for $70, with free shipping.

Kan't Beat That!!!!!

HH,

Good luck Tony,

I'll be looking forward to your post.

Than's for the encouragement,

Nice ring Tabdog, and good start for the year. Grubbing around down in the iron and foil range does have its benefits doesn't it:)?

Beautiful old ring! It appears to be from the 30s-50s era. Very nice!

Tabdog. You should probably change your post name to Luckydog. Lost all of my metal detectors back in the 80s and treasures back in the 80s to a house fire. Started detecting again three years ago. I found gold rings back then along lakeshores. But I haven't found one ring in the since I started detecting again. You find four gold rings in three months. Would you please stop boasting - you're making me jealous. Four rings in three months is obscene. Just Kidding. With your luck I'm kinda reminded of a fellow that I used to detect with in the 80s. Now I'm not insinuating that you hunt this way, but this is the way he hunted. He would jump from the vehicls after I stopped and swing his coil about four to six inches above the ground and walk close to three miles an hour. He would hit way more targets then I in a days time. I began to become jealous of him. I even began to think that if he would fall into a river, drunk - that with his luck he'd probably float up-stream. I don't know why I held any animosity toward this fellow. He would even offer me somes of his finds, and I with prideful indignation would decline them. He has since passed to the other side. I should not have been so prideful. I should have excepted his offer of his bounty. I think of him often, I shall forever miss him. He was a true and great friend. So Tabdog - I hope that you find thousand gold rings in the next three months. Hang in there. Dimesworth

Tagdog - I posted this mesage before but for some reason it didn't take. Forgot to check for errors but I think the readers can decipher it. I notice that I left out some letters and miss typed some . Dimesworth

I got my first ring this year about a month ago. Funny thing I was doing the same thing you were doing. I kept swinging as I left the tot lot and got a good signal. It was a tiny 10K ring with the letters spelling, "baby". Guess it doesn't hurt to keep swinging as you head back to the truck.

and just about to leave. I had to try just a little more before I left.

I've got to where I half way expect to find something under such
circumstances.

That's just one of those hunches that drive me.

HH,

I guess I am lucky, but I am just doing what some experienced hunters on this forum suggested I do.
I am disabled but I get a chance to hunt a lot. I do short hunts, but I go back time after time.

I was lucky in February and found a swim beach that was only hunted by people using discrimination.
I could see their holes all over the place, but they left me two diamond rings, and more. That was my
biggest day by volume, ever.

In January I found I found my best single find. A 1/5th ct 18k gold diamond ring. It was at a site that
whooped my butt time after time. I had used seven different metal detectors on that same site in that
many months.

I have had an enormous amount of non-productive days. Just a few real good days. If I didn't like this
hobby so much, I would find something els to do. But nothing els is this much fun.

HH,

That ring will help you smile.
Its amazing how that one find can sure make a day better, even a good day.

Your right about the fun part tabdog. My only problem now is that with turkey
season opening the end of this month I am having mixed emotions.

I got to thinking.:nerd:

I have found five gold rings I think.

On January 6th I recovered my best single find.
