Went to a site last Saturday that I've been wanting to hunt for some time, but only had about 45 minutes. The only thing I found worth while was the heavily corroded 1944D Mercury. The site looked promising so I went back last Wednesday and found the other three Mercury dimes (1937, 1939D, & 1943S) and ten wheaties (1935 to 1949). All the wheats and mercs were only 1-4 inches deep - shallow enough for any detector to find. I'm not positive but I think I may have stumbled onto a virgin site. I can't imagine that these 14 coins would be missed if the area had been hunted before. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to go back, but you can bet I will.

Congratulations on the finds. I'll bet you dig it all there. I like shallow silver.

Three Merc's on one hunt .... very nice !

If you dug three silver on one hunt - there's more there to be found - if it was me, I'd keep going back to this site and hunt it from different directions till I left empty handed !

Good luck !

Very nice.
Congrats,
Bunker

Very nice. Love the mercs. That one looks a little toasty, like it may have been involved in a fire.

Good luck. That's exciting about possibly finding a virgin site - keep us posted on what you find! Hope some big silver is in your future!

The corroded dime was found next to a curb on a corner. The ground was pushed in where cars had gone over the curb and driven on the dirt creating a low spot. I suspect the low spot holds water and that caused the corrosion. The other dimes were on higher ground where water would drain off. I'll keep you up to date on other finds from this site.

I was given permission to hunt a nearby yard. The house was built in 1921 so I think I'll hunt it first before the owner changes his mind.

After a week and a half I finally made it back to this site and found an additional nine wheat pennies (including a 1910 in really bad shape) and five silver dimes (four Mercury dimes - 1919, 1920, 1935, & 1935S & one Roosevelt dime - 1947). That makes a total of 19 wheats, 8 Mercs, & 1 Rosie from this site. I'm pretty sure this site has never been hunted before. Yeah!!! Definitely my best day with the E-Trac as far as quantity of silver.

My original goal was to find 25 silver coins in my first year with the E-Trac. With three more weeks to go I've found 33. What a great machine!

Ag nice finds. I was thinking same thing(find 25 silver) when I got my E-Trac. I ended up with 107 silver coins from June-Dec of 2011. And so far I have 74 silver in 2012(goal was to get half of 2011).

Keep on digging.
