Found wealth is better than earned wealth!!!!

I think I found the area in the city park where someone either hated having to many quarters in their possession or had no ability to hold money in their hands without dropping it. All of these quarters where found in an area about 6 foot by 6 foot area covered with only grass but not visible. I thought my machine was playing a joke on me. Everytime I put it to work the pretty number "44" appeared on the screen. I like "44". The others coins where found scattered around the park. 4 of them are "no cash value" tokens?? Not sure why they would be there. At first glance I thought I had something old. First time out with a Garrett Pro Pointer. The thing saved me so much time in locating the coins and prevented a ton of useless digging. I recommend it to anyone who does not own one. Only problem was if I did not turn it off and it got near the detector head it would make the machine go crazy and I would have to shut the detector off then back on. I also used the Jimmy Sierra "Plug Popper" for the first time. It made the city park remain pristine even after I dug my coins. Time saver also and may prevent city officials from complaining you are damaging the parks. I would do infomercials for both products I liked them so much.

....great haul mate!!!

Ironically, I've had this same thing happen in about a 3'x8' area and was eventually able to figure out why all of the quarters were there. I was detecting a rather large grassy area about 15' away from a picnic shelter. I had only found a few coins and was about ready to leave and decided that I would detect in some rather deep gravel that was between the picnic shelter and the grass. I got a 42 signal and moved the stones apart and found a quarter. After I picked up the quarter I rescanned the area and found another quarter, then another. At the time I couldn't exactly figure out why I found a rather large handful of quarters in those stones and then we realized probably what happened.

This shelter is across from what used to be a pretty active baseball field. There are a few picnic tables under the shelter and we think that they used to sell pop and candy off of the one picnic table next to the edge of the cement pad under the shelter. Everything that they sold was probably in 25 cent increments to make it easy to give change. They probably dropped quarters unknowingly and they rolled across the cement pad and into the gravel. Nobody either knew that they dropped the quarters or didn't care. I didn't find quite as many as nuggetthunter but almost as much.

It seemed so strange that all of these quarters were in such a close area but we are pretty sure that the little concession area has to be why. Every now and then when I drive past this area I look over to see what's going on and it's usually a bunch of guys having a few beers after a softball game but nothing that looks like any kind of concessions. I thought maybe they were playing drinking games but for as many quarters as I had found there, they would have to be really bad at whatever game they were playing.
