Found this today near an old 1 room school house... I'm believing it is to be an old indian copper spear point... Any comments I'd appreciate it..

Depending on where you found it might help in determining in it's age and origin. Also would be nice to see a standard ruler alongside of it for size comparison. It looks like one to me, but it could be a later period specimen. Some tribes were still making spearpoints out of copper items (kettles, pans etc) received from white settlers in trading situations, when they did not have guns and ammo for hunting purposes. Very nice find !!

See if you can get a minute with the nearest expert, perhaps a college professor or museum guy. Iontno, my luck it would be a butter spreader. No actually Ive had some good luck and wish you the same. You prob already know this but dont clean it until your sure.

Thanks Steve...!! I'll post more later when I find out exactly what it is and date. I'm being told it is an ancient piece from the "Copper Culture".

Hi McDave....

It was found here in my home state of S.W. Michigan near Battle Creek. It is 4-3/8" long by 1-5/16" at the widest point at bottom and about 1/8" thick. Thanks for your comment!!!

Have a great day!

Very cool find. Sure looks like an old copper point. Some of those old points can range back 6000 years or so.
