I think it is a Field Artillery, pendent. The words on it read THE RIGHT OF THE LINE, it has a screw piece on the back. I look all over the net and keep coming up with USA Field Artillery, saying but on pic's. If anyone got a ideal I sure would be thankful.
 
Look up military D.I. pins thats what you have. I don't know right off hand what unit yours is, I've found a few different ones myself, could be WW2 era.
 
What you have is a Distinctive Unit Insignia from the 14th Infantry Regiment US Army. It's a pin worn by soldiers to identify their regimental affiliation. You can go to the wikipedia link to see what the pin looked like in it's original colors. Nice find!
