Ok, We were out this morning, at a place that was known inhabited back in 1880's to 1935ish,didn't find any coins, but did find this....now, I can't make out any manufacturers markings, except the U.S.A. on the back. The piece looks to be some kind of guilded copper, looks like a Union piece of some kind, measures 3/4" across at the bottom of the cape, IF....it was starightened out, it would measure 2-3/4" tall, but it looks like it was in a fire and has been bent right at the soldier's knees. No places showing any type of pin mounting, no clasps, could it have been on top of something, come on guys give me a shove in the right direction, Jack.

Hi,

Is it possible is was carved? You believe it is copper? Not lead?
The very first thing I thought it could be was a carved bullet.
Very nice. I'm sure you are happy. I hope somebody comes up with an answer.

It is copper, it looks to have been from a mold of somekind, someone suggested a Chess piece, but I really don't think it is, the U.S.A. has me stumped, about the date of the piece, I thought it could be a commemorative of somekind, but again, no dating on the piece to signify this, so it is back to square one, I will say this, the place where I found this, our group picked up V-nickels, barber dime, indian head penny and a standing libby quarter, latest being 1925, so I figure the age is 100+ as the oldest coin was 1901...thanks for your help, Jack.
