Found some thawed ground and half a cowboy.

Got out for an hour yesterday and found a few spots with no snow.

I understand completely what you are saying. It's great to find some open, soft dirt again. We're getting there and I hope that you get there soon. It's raining here today so that should get rid of a lot more of the snow. Now we just gotta get the mud taken care of. Your cowboy appears to be missing some important pieces. Looks like we won't be seeing any new cowboys.

Cool cowboy. Do you save brass? I do and have assembled a really cool collection of various calibers.

Chris

I have unintentionally saved every shell I have found thus far. And I have a few unfired ones also. My favorite one is an unfired rimshot round which I have been told is mid to late 1800's

Hey Chris...any thoughts on what caliber it is?

You have a micrometer to measure it with? If not just measure it with a ruler. It looks like a large caliber. Cool find. My favorite is a modern 50 cal shell. Found at a school! Probably from show and tell.

Snow is going away real fast now and the ground is thawing but still very muddy. It looks like we may be able to get out this week if we choose our spots. Been waiting for this all winter.
