Found Some More 1800's Coins & Relics

Still working six or seven days a week, but I was able to get out on a few short hunts over the last few weeks.
With limited time available - I decided to focus on a couple of 1800's house sites and a old school ball field that have all given up good finds in the past.

The 1872 Shield Nickel is in fair condition but you can still read the date.

The 1864 ( no "L" ) & 1882 Indian Cents are in real nice condition ( for some reason I can never get good photo's of Indian's with my camera).

The 1935 Mercury Dime was found in the woods near the old ball field.

The copper Broach and the Ring were found approx 6" down in the front yard of a house that was built in 1861- they were probably silver plated when they were new.

The bronze / copper - Eagle Head Cane Handle was down approx. 8" in the same yard - it's a very heavy piece.

Happy Hunting !

Those are some really nice finds Mark! Good to see you out and having some detecting success! Thanks for the pictures.

Nice finds for "hunted out" spots. I am still looking for my first shield nickel.

The cane handle is pretty neat too! I bet it was screaming at you.

Yes, the Cane Handle was a loud hit - knew it wasn't a coin before I dug it - thought there was a good chance it was going to be a larger piece of copper or heavy aluminum.
Proof once again ... you never know, unless you dig it.

Man that cane handle is cool! Great stuff. Hope you can get again soon.

Wow...I love how organized you are and how you display for finds for us to see. That is a very cool cane handle and I always love finding Indians. Still haven't found a V nickel yet.

Congrats on a great hunt.

I have yet to post my finds for the past few weeks. Will do that soon.

Finding a relic that is in such good condition that it can be used again is awesome!
