Found old shackles . unknown era ...

Found an old pair of shackles. they take a screw style key, when screwed the shackle
would draw an internal screw and undo the shackles . none of the links are the same size or shape.
shackles are to rusted inside to open, key is being cleaned and will photograph soon.
can anyone tell me what era they may be from and who would have used this style of shackle..
they where found in an area with Spanish-English-Civil war- and Slave history.
trying to get a more precise ID on who may have used this style.
TY ..

Did you dig these? There are reproductions of this type of shackle by the hundreds of thousands on the market. Real ones are fairly rare. Hope these are the real thing. Good luck.

They where dug several years ago between St Augustine and Jacksonville FL. they no longer function due to the rust inside. and several links appear to be almost worn through. i will get some better pics today, maybe that will help with the ID ... TY .
