Found My First Walker Half Tonight!

Sooper Dave

[size=medium]I wanted to go out after work today for a hunt, but on the way home the bottom dropped out. It rained hard for an hour then the sun came out and gave us a double rainbow to see, and I took that as a sign as I quickly loaded my stuff and daughter in the truck. We went back to a spot I went to last week and found a few pieces of silver. First good signal was a very crusty Buffalo. We dug a lot of clad and then found a Rosie in the same hole as a Memorial. Didn't find much after that, a few Wheats and then another Rosie, It started to get dark and thought that would be it for the night when I got a great sounding signal that read 12-44 10-44. I was expecting a clad dime, but it ended up being a 1943 Walker Half! It was on edge and was on the side of the hole and wouldn't you know I kissed it with my digger! :rage: It's in great shape too, pretty bummed about it, but as my kids said as they gave me high fives, at least I found it. My wife asked the other night what I would like to find next and a Walker Half was the first thing I said. I have found a Barber Half and two Franklin Halves. I am thrilled to have found this Walker. That is a great short hunt and with the silver it already gave up it has to be your new favorite spot. Keep up the good work HH Dave

A beautiful coin to say the least - congrats Dave !:beers:

Excellent Walker!!! That is on my wish list too!!

Congrats on your first Walker. Great story and pics, and some awesome finds. ..:)

Nice finds, Dave. I'm not seeing the scratch! Is it on the front or back? Can't see the date either. What year? The only half I've found this year has been a Walker...a 41. Mine came in high also at 12-46, but I'm told that those usually have lower number....in the FE column anyway. That sure is a pretty coin. I thought mine was in good shape, but yours has it beat. Glad to see you scored on the bucket list.

Disregard the what year question. I see that you said 43 in your narrative.

Congratulations on a beautiful Walker!! I still remember my first and the thrill it gave me.

Good job buddy, I'm happy for ya! Can't wait to get out with ya again.

Kids get a double scoop of ice cream yesterday?

BIG SILVER = CHECK

Thanks Micah, I am starting to think I'm going to have to kidnap you for a few hours so you can get out and hunt. The ice cream has been flowing for the kids from the past few times out. They are sure going to be disappointed when my hunts go back to the normal pull tabs and clad  Now get your work done so we can hit the tot lots while the kids are still out for summer

My favorite coin! Congratulations on your first Walker! Thanks for the story and the pictures.
