Got the all clear to hunt at my son's school for the week end and BOY did I have some fun.
Started the week end off by seeing off my wife and kids on their trip down to her mum's place in Sydney again(so I'm sorry I can't give you any pictures for at least 2 weeks as they have the digital cameras with them). That means extra detecting time for me.
After that I packed my X-T30 into a backpack and jumped onto the bike and strait down to the school for a full day of dirt fishing.
Had a couple at work that caught the detecting bug off me a couple of weeks ago and bought the Ace250 a couple of days ago so they joined me there as well.
Anyway after I reassembled the X-T30 and got strait into it.Started on the lawn area first and had coins coming up at fairly regular intervals for a few hours, when I got a signal that was bouncing between 28 and 32.Thought I snagged another $2 coin, but got a big surprise when out popped a 1963 sixpenceThis is the first silver coin that I've found with the X-T30 and only the second sixpence that I've ever found! Anyway , after a short celebration and a check on how my friends were doing with their new toy, it was back to the hunt.
The day ended at 6 due to bad light(started at 11).The tally for the day was 64 coins for a total of $35.76+ 2 outer rings of a compass including the bearings on one of them.
Another first was to see an Ace250.MAN that has one killer coil for pinpointing with(maybe Minelab could do something similar)I'd say that this would have to be the Aces biggest asset. The discrimination seemed to jump around on good targets a fair bit. After a bit of a lesson my friends took to detecting like ducks to water(another highlight of the day). They managed to snag for themselves just on $10 for about 3hrs of hunting (one dug while the other swung the detector). They had a ball and went out on their own today at a different site with more success.
Got out for 3hrs myself this afternoon, back to the school again, AND I DID IT AGAIN!!!!This time I got a signal that was jumping from 32 to 36. Thought I had another 2 cent piece(pennies are also in this area). But this time I got an even bigger thrill when out came a 1961 shillingI've hardly ever seen one little own have one pass under my coil!
All I can say, is wow, what a weekend. Todays finds were 42 coins for a total of $21.35+ 2 gun cartridges(a bit disturbing for a school site) which is a total of$57.05 one shilling and one sixpence.
Hope you are all having fun with your detectors.
