I hunted my friend's yard again today and found a four 3 ringer bullets, a 1902 IH penny, another lead token , a brass tag initialed J.M.F , some pieces of camp lead , a harmonica reed and the last good find of the day was a perfect SC button...that is until i realized after cleaning it gently with a soft bristle tooth brush and warm water that i had grazed the edge of it with my shovel , thus cracking the face , and to add insult to injury , the shank broke off while cleaning it. Oh well ,,still a nice find ,,,,maybe there are more there. (I'm still upset with myself...i just cleaned it 15 mins ago)

Dings, dents, nicks, or broken shanks........... a CW button is still a CW button. Great job and there should be more there.

Something similiar happened to me with a Louisanna button. It was shallower than I thought and dug too aggressively. After I retrieved it I noticed a slight push on the face and by the slight scrape realized I had caused it. Other than that a good button with a rope border, and a hard lesson learned. Have dug many Union Eagles without narry a scratch and oops it on my first Southern button.

:cheers:Congrats man on a nice button and hope you add many more to your collection. HH.
