Found my first gold ring today, and it's a class ring from my Alma Mater!

I went back to the spot I found the 6 silver dimes at yesterday, and only had an hour to hunt, so I told myself I would only dig deep targets. Only targets 5" and deepr to up my chances of finding good coins, and just as I was getting ready to leave, I hit a weird signal bouncing around 12-41, 12-43, at 5", so I dug it. BAM! Out pops my first gold ring ever! Oh, and it's from the highschool I went to, and my cousin knows the guy! As I'm typing this they're calling him now to let him know. What are the odds?!?! Kinda sad that I can't keep my first gold, but this is super cool that I can return it to a fellow graduate.

Nice find, hope you find the owner that would be great.

UPDATE: Through Facebook we were able to get ahold of him, spoke to him on the phone, and he lives 15 minutes away. He's on his way here to pick it up. Said he lost it 20 years ago at a keg party at the park. Even better, he has his 20 year reunion this October! A little good Karma to start my weekend! CTX is killing it!

UPDATE 2: Ring returned. Jeff actually knows a lot of my friends and cousins, and I even recognized him too. He bought me a beer at the bar next to my house and we BS'd a little about MD'ing. What a great day. The find was great, and it was my first gold ring ever. first gold ANYTHING ever, and then realizing I could return it so easily like that was the best, and just in time for his 20 year reunion! Oh, and now he has TWO highschool rings because when he lost it he was so scared to tell his mom that he bought another one! lol Now he can give one to his son, or daughter etc. Feeling pretty happy right now. Love doing good deeds and stuff. :)

Karma will makeit right some say,,,, no good deed goes un-noticed,,,, WYG !!!!

Good find and good deed! Did the owner give you permission to detect his yard now??

I'm serious. They love these kind of stories. It says a world of good about the kind of people who are involved in this hobby. It puts detectorists in a positive light, as opposed to people who would like to paint us as people who loot and destroy the environment.

Call the news room of your most watched television station and your newspaper.

You did the right thing, ronfin, AND did the hobby a real solid! I'm sure that man and his family will never forget what you did for them. I'm also certain you will find YOUR gold ring, and right next to it ~ a leather pouch full of old gold coins! God bless you sir.

Nice story, right thing to do clearly.

The Universe reward these things, more gold in your future ;)
