Found LOVE at the beach this afternoon; some silver, and a load of barnacles..

3 hr. hunt...following the tide out.

Low tide was a surprise as it seems all the sand that had been on the beach was pulled out to the ocean...in addition to tons of sand that had been deposited on the dunes and walkways, so I didn't do much detecting out in the "muddy flats" ( that weren't so flat today).

Found coins in dry sand; found the barnacled bottle ( is this what is called a "blob top"?..see pic , please) and silver rings in the mud at the shoreline low tide.

I'm wondering how old the bottle is...it has no Company name nor date...just "THIS BOTTLE IS NOT TO BE SOLD"

Here's some pics

thanks for looking

these are" canning bottles"; He says that his mother used to buy them at the store and fill them up with her homemade rootbeer soda.

Has anyone ever heard of that?.

But we had much more modern bottles that we capped with the old style bottle opener type caps.
"canning" bottles, or 'meats' would have a much wider mouth.
Looks like you have blob top soda there.
It would have had a stopper in it that was 'pushed' into the bottle to open it.
When those types were opened they made a "pop" sound, hence the word pop. As in a bottle of pop, or a pop bottle.
Sweeeeet find

Please post a cleaned up pic of it.
