Hi jeff

What you have is a 1947 Silver King George and its not that rare yet but I would keep it it may be worth something some day

On todays market its worth about $35.00 US if in vary good cond.I have one as well take a look

does yours have a dot after the seven? thanks for the information Jeff

I think if the date (1947) has anything to go by . That puts it into the greater nickel percentage class. If it was pre 47 there would have been a higher % of silver than there is at `1947` and above date. The other date was Pre 1920, for an even Bigger % of silver ,than pre 47.

The May 2007 Coin Prices magazine has Canadian coin values and lists a plain '47, a '47 with a dot and a '47 with a maple leaf. The dot is the desireable one, the maple leaf is actually worth less than the plain date. I'm afraid yours has tha maple leaf, which the magazine lists as BV (bullion value) in grades below very fine.
