Sorry the pics aren't better. I found this last year hunting a empty house lot. It rang in the pulltab range if I remember right and what made me dig it was that it had a very "quality" sound to it, unlike a lot of junk in that range can sound.

I doubt it's silver because of the low reading but it sure looks like silver. I suspect it's aluminum though due to the ID from memory, unless the eagle on the front is bringing down the ID while the rest is silver, because the eagle looks like a darker metal of some sort.

It's got an eagle on the front, and the second picture is a side view with the alligator-like clip. I'm guessing it's at least some kind of boyscouts clip or perhaps military? If you know what it is please give me an idea of age and such. Thanks.

It's been sitting in my truck's console since I found it and this morning I looked at it again and thought "Time to find out about this thing."

I can not identify the item. It appears to be a tie bar. I never saw anything like it in my 20 years in the greatest Navy on Earth. The United States Submarine Service. I have looked at a number of web sites that sell military jewelry and could not locate anything that looked exactly like the one you have.

Thanks to all of you for the info. I'm guessing then tie clip, and I still suspect it's military. I'll see if I can get a better picture of the front for everybody. My camera has a manual focus so it's very hard to get things just right with it. I've been told I can hold a loop in front of the lense to magnify an object for good close ups. I think I'll play with that too. As it stands right now I have to take about 8 pictures, at various distances, and with various settings of the manual focus, in the hopes one turns out clear enough close up to use.

Without a better picture, you discription could be a retired officers tie clip.

If the clip is Yellow then it could have been a military officers tie clip. If silver colored it could be an enlisted members tie clip. From what I could see in the picture I could not determine just what it might have been.
