I found this the other day , really exciting dig ! But some things I do not understand . This item feels about 2-3 oz , and is stamped 18k on the back side , but it does not even look close to being gold , has anyone seen other metals stamped 18k ?? I got it on a solid 85 on my AT Pro ??

here is what the front looks like

You can try to clean it up with some soap and water, or give it a rubbing with a jewelers cloth,

I found something similar to yours a few years ago stamped 14k that was a fake...Not saying yours is, just that you are right in trying to get it figured out...you could take it into a jeweler and ask them to tell you if its real..Good Luck, and I hope its real!:clapping:

Please come back and let us know for the groups knowledge...

Hi.

Your religious ornament/relic find is probably just plated, it seems to be the done thing to knock out religious fakes and sell then to the faithfull, unscrupulous dealers do a roaring trade selling to the overly trusting tourist! As an example, 2.5 oz of 18ct gold is worth $2,249.63, that's just the gold price! What would you pay for your find?

I am off the middle of this week I am going to bring to a jeweler , I did clean it up a little bit with gold cleaner and a jeweler cloth , some small areas underneath revealed a gold color but the tarnished brown color almost seems like it does not want to come off or be removed , so Im certainly in favor it is not gold , but I am still excited about the find and would like to look for a date , seeing I found this at a late 1700's house . And I really enjoyed digging up something beside silver dimes and clad

Brought to nathans today , No Gold , but that is okay too , would of been nice but it is bronze and he cleaned it up really nice for me also ! Looks fantastic . +1 on relics

all cleaned up !

I thought it would be a base metal with an electroplated finish, bronze is good, not cheap or easy to cast with, it's still a very nice find. Now do the Google search to find its age and who made it, the quest continues!

1830 Immaculate Mary pendant , seems pretty vintage compared to the ones I used to reasearch it online , being about 8 inches down , its been there a bit . The park I scan is circa late 1800s , and has 4 ballfields in it . Fairly large , and the guy with the minelab says its dried up and scanned out , I do not believe him , I keep finding coins circa 1900 and religous jewelry that seems pretty vintage .

to my amazement yet another religeous pendant in the same ballfield ! #5 ! this one is a beauty ! double sided vintage original for sure ! I googled it and found some new replica type single sided ones but nothing compares to the one I found !
Christ the King on front , virgin Mary on back , looks like it was gold plated at most , but is a real nice piece regardless the metal type .

Megatorque, very nice finds!

Thanks Frank ! I feel very good about the things I have found in my short 3 month career !
